Profile
Pro Dogs Direct (Registered Charity No 1115647) launched in 2006 with the vision that whenever possible our rescue dogs would go DIRECTLY from their FOSTER home to their new permanent home without the need for kennels. Living in a home environment with caring volunteers is better for the dogs and helps prepare them for the transition to their adoptive home. To date we have helped over 12,000 dogs find new homes and better lives.
Our foster carers live across London and the South-East but we rehome to adopters across the UK.
Many of those we rescue might otherwise be euthanised; these could be unclaimed strays, dogs that are ill or injured along with those that are simply no longer wanted. This means before rehoming, our dogs often need extra medical care and TLC. Many have had a traumatic past and never known a loving hand or home – this is particularly true for the ex-breeding dogs we rescue.
Looking after our dogs in volunteers’ homes means we can give them the love, care and training they need, and allows us to really get to know them and what type of new home will best suit their needs. Using this knowledge allows us to achieve our aim of placing each dog in the best possible home rather than simply rehoming them on a first-come first served basis. This is better for the dogs AND those that adopt them and means we have a much lower ‘failed adoption’ rate than is common across the rescue sector.
